National Ag Day & Ag Week
Tanaka Farms would like to thank all of you that came out Sunday March 13, 2011 from 10am - 3pm, in support of National Ag Day (March 15, 2011) and Ag Week (March 13 - 19, 2011). It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed meeting you. Again we would like to thank you for supporting us and our other local farmers. We want to encourage you to continue supporting us and our other local farmers.
We have the freshest fruits and vegetables because we don't need to grow, pick, pack and ship to the big super markets days in advance. We can let the fruits and vegetable grow longer in the ground or on the vines until there are ripened and ready for picking. We just need to grow and pick! This way you get the freshest produce possible. When you come to Tanaka Farms National Ag Day event, there will be different activities and information for you to do and listen to
- We'll have former State Secretary of Agriculture,
A.G. Kawamura as our guest speaker.
- Booths from local farmers sampling their
strawberries and other information.
- Fun games & activities for the kids.
- Tanaka Farms Strawberry Tours that will be running every half hour from 9:00am to 4:00pm.
What is Ag Day/Ag Week?
Is a time when growers, agricultural associations, corporations, universities, schools, government agencies and others across America gather to recognize and celebrate the abundance provided by agriculture.
When is Ag Day/Ag Week?
This year March 15th marks National Ag Day. It falls during National Ag Week, which is from March 13th to March 19th, 2011.
Why is Ag Day/Ag Week important?
It's important because we want to increasing public awareness about American agriculture. As the world population soars, there is even greater demand for the food and fiber produced in the United States. The Agriculture Council of America and its supporters are committed to this awareness.
The National Ag Day program believes that every American should:
• understand how food, fiber and renewable resource products are produced.
• value the essential role of agriculture in maintaining a strong economy.
• appreciate the role agriculture plays in providing safe, abundant and affordable products.
• acknowledge and consider career opportunities in the agriculture, food, fiber and renewable
