Good Afternoon Farmer Glenn and Kenny Tanaka,

We have just returned home from another successful trip to your farm.  This year I organized a group of 47 of my son’s friends and parents to come down and pick strawberries.  We all had a wonderful time and almost every person had strawberry stained on their mouth or hands (or clothes!).  Thank you so much for your efforts to educate kids about fruits and vegetables and the need for 5 servings a day.  My 5 year old daughter actually tried a green onion and everything else that was offered to her!  The kids really enjoyed running around the entrance area, getting their pictures taken at the various photo spots, and lastly they LOVED eating and picking the strawberries.  It was a great opportunity for a family adventure and for the parents of all these wonderful kids to get to know each other better.  Since the dad’s don’t get to see each other very often, it was especially nice to see them together today.  We also had one of the first grade teachers from our school and her family with us, which was a treat for the kids in her class.  She told me that all the first graders are learning about plants, so this was a perfect extension to what is going on in the classrooms.  From 18 months to 53 years old and every age in between, we all enjoyed ourselves and can’t wait to come back down to the farm next year.

Thank you again.

Dear Tanaka Farms
This is one of our favorite photos of the kids holding up ONE lettuce bunch that Aimee cut for us at your stand.  This was found during our first trip to your farm in May 2004.  We decided to go to your farm when my kids thought that fruits and vegetables ONLY came from Albertsons.  The kids also picked beans off the vines and strawberries from the plants in the barrels at that time.  What an education for all of us!  Now we're regulars on the tours and at the stand.  We're hooked!
Thank you for the hands on experience.

Hi Tanaka Farms
Here are two photos of us on your watermelon tour from last year.  We are a group of friends who happen to be former teachers and are now stay at home moms with all our kids and relatives.  We enjoyed Farmer Kenny's tour and presentation and his ability to keep the attention of our group.  We all enjoyed trying vegetables and fruits along the tour but the highlight was picking and dragging our own watermelon, although, spitting seeds into the bucket was a close second. Thank you for an educational and fun time!

Sincerely,
The Hertoghs, Fujimuras and both Shimizu Families
I just wanted to thank you for having such a wonderful tour available to our children.  We visited your farm yesterday with some of our MOMS Club of Glendale East & Eagle Rock, CA members and everyone had a great time.  Our guide and driver were terrific and everthing tasted so great!  The strawberries are amazing.  Makes it difficult to buy them at the grocery store anymore!

Thank you again for such a wonderful learning
experience.  We look forward to the melon tours!

Sincerely,

MY FAMILY HAD A GREAT TIME ON YOUR TOUR.  I BROUGHT MY SON ON HIS FIRST BIRTHDAY (ERIC JAMES SONY GAY JR.) ALL THE WAY FROM HONOLULU, HAWAII BECAUSE HE LOVES STRAWBERRY'S AND I WANTED HIM TO EXPERIENCE PICKING THEM FRESH.  MY SON HAD SO MUCH FUN AT YOUR FARM, I CAN'T WAIT FOR HIM TO GET A LITTLE BIT OLDER SO THAT I CAN BRING HIM BACK TO YOUR FARM SO THAT HE CAN REMEMBER THE EXPERIENCE BETTER.  I TOLD MY COUSIN THAT I WAS TAKING MY SON TO YOUR FARM. I TOLD MY COUSIN ABOUT GOING TO YOUR FARM AND HE SAID HE KNEW YOU (PERRY CAZARES), SO WE BROUGHT AUTIES, UNCLES & COUSINS ON YOUR TOUR.  THEY LIVE IN CALIFORNIA BUT HAVE NEVER BEEN ON YOUR TOUR AND THEY HAD A GREAT TIME.  I TELL EVERYONE IN HAWAII HOW MUCH MY SON HAD A GREAT TIME AND THAT THE SHOULD TRY THE STARWBERRY EXPRIENCE THEMSELVES IF THEY EVER GO TO CALIFORNIA.

Hi Farmer Glenn and Farmer Kenny,

I wanted to tell you my kindergartners had a great time at your farm.  I wasn't sure how it would be with over 100 students but it turned out great. My co-teachers loved it and it was perfect for our students. We're still discussing and writing about it. My co-teacher went back to the produce stand after school that day and loves it.

I had Farmer Katie and she was fantastic!  She definitely got the students excited about vegetables and fruit. It will be one of our memorable highlights this kindergarten year. Tell Amiee thanks again for setting it up. The afternoon tour worked perfectly for us and the weather was great that day.

My students really enjoyed this field trip! Experiencing a real farm from a tractor ride to tasting fresh vegetables and strawberries right from the field was very educational and meaningful. We just finished our Farm Theme in our language arts program and our farm unit in our English Language Development program.
After having the hands on experiences definitely helped them understand and learn. They will now be able to build on those experiences.

It was a great field trip! Thanks for putting on a great program.

We can't say enough good things about Tanaka Farms.  We started off with the Strawberry Tour and now we are hooked.  I have never tasted a strawberry that actually tastes the way a strawberry should.  I 'll nver forget the look on my kid's faces - smiles (stained red) from ear to ear.  They even ate veggies I never thought they would try!  We couldn't help but want to see what the pumpkin farm was like.  That was an insane amount of fun.  I love that my kids appreciate where food really comes from and why taking care of our Earth is important.  We are looking forward to the Watermelon Tour this summer.  Thanks for such an educational and fun experience.  I can feel like an awesome mom when I take my kids to such a great place!
