Our Market Stand opens when we begin to harvest our sweet strawberries along with over 60 other different fruits and vegetables. One difference at this location is that we offer both conventionally grown and organically grown strawberries. You definitely cannot get fresher strawberries anywhere!!!The real treat at Tanaka Farms is the different Tours that we offer throughout the seasons. Kids and adults alike may get a glimpse into the workings of a real farm. Tanaka Farms offers different types of tours like our famous Strawberry Tours (Mid-March to end of June), Cookout Tours (Mid-March to end of August), Watermelon Tours (July to August), and our Pumpkin Patch Tour (end of Sept. to end of October). NO where in ORANGE COUNTY can you do all this!!!Tanaka Farms strives to provide quality produce and to educate the community on the values of healthy eating. Tanaka Farms began with great-grandfather Teruo who immigrated from Hiroshima-ken, Japan. Grandfather, George, was born in Dinuba, California. Farmer Tanaka is a "Sansei", a 3rd generation Japanese American, who was born and raised in Huntington Beach, California. Farmer Tanaka graduated from Fountain Valley High School and Cal Poly Pomona with a degree in Ag Business.Farmer Tanaka, his wife, Shirley, and his son, Farmer Kenny, own and operate Tanaka Farms, which is an authentic working farm. Our 30-acre farm produces fruits & vegetables that supplies our produce stand, provides for our CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) program and our various educational tours. In 1998, forced to move the farming operation from Irvine Center Drive and Bake Parkway because of development, Tanaka Farms decided to go organic. The farm is situated in a valley in the heart of Irvine. It is hard to believe that this beautiful farm can exist among all of the development in Orange County.
