Walk the Farm

Save the date! Take a leisurely 1 1/2 mile walk around a real working farm sampling freshly harvested fruits and vegetables along the way.
100% of the net proceeds will go to providing scholarships in the School of Agriculture at Iwate University and grants to teach new farmers that will renew areas that were affected by the "Great Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami" on March 11, 2011, and also to local farmers suffering from natural disasters.

Annual Farm Walk for Childhood Cancer

Join us for the 4th Annual Farm Walk for Childhood Cancer! This is a one-mile walk around Tanaka Farms with 10 fruit/vegetable sampling stations. These stations will be staffed by various childhood cancer organizations (2018 beneficiaries will be announced soon!). They will pass out the produce samples, provide information about the cancer fighting benefits of the produce, and provide information about their organization. There will be food and entertainment at the end of the walk.

Save the date! Join us for a Special Evening to benefit Maxlove Project's Pioneering Childhood Cancer Thrivership Programs. The Maxlove Project empowers families fighting childhood cancers and related life-threatening conditions with quality of life care, fierce foods, whole-body wellness resources, education and research. They believe that true health starts when families are empowered to be active partners in their child’s healing.

We will be hosting an amazing lineup of the regions favorite chefs, along with a nationally recognized speaker and an exciting live auction! It will be a memorable evening of live music and as well as a wide array of craft beer and wine, all enjoyed from an incredible hilltop venue surrounded by farm land.
All proceeds from the event will go toward eradicating hunger while providing vitally important educational programming about food, wellness and the impacts urban farming can make in our communities.

Volunteers needed for Farm Work/Gleaning Opportunities at Tanaka Farms:
Gleaning is the process of picking or gathering of vegetables in the field when there is an abundance of a crop. The vegetables picked by volunteer gleaners will go to families in need connected with the food pantries at South County Outreach and Families Forward in Irvine. Volunteers are needed to help weed, glean, wash and perform other various farm chores.
Limited to 15 volunteers per gleaning date.
Every child 16 and under MUST be accompanied by an adult.
Gleaning will last about 2 hours.
Closed toed shoes are required. Be prepared to get dirty and muddy!
Everyone must pre-register.

FOR YOUR SAFETY we recommend wearing comfortable shoes that you don't mind getting dirty. Please avoid wearing sandals/flip-flops, open-toed shoes or high heels.
