STRAWBERRY PICKING TOUR INFORMATION

The 2021 Strawberry Picking Season is now over. Our traditional strawberry growing season is from early March to late June.

What is it?

Tanaka Farms is famous for our delicious, sweet, and juicy strawberries! The Strawberry Picking Tour allows guests to pick (and eat!) their own strawberries out in the fields right where they grow!

How does it work?

Take a wagon ride around the farm. Learn about the farming methods and history of our farm from your friendly tour guide. You will see how fruits and vegetables grow! Throughout the tour, you will sample several seasonal fruits and vegetables. The last stop on this tour is in the strawberry patch where you can pick and eat strawberries! Everyone will take home a one-pound basket of strawberries!

How much does it cost?

A note about our strawberries: Believe it or not, we don’t always have strawberries available to pick or purchase! Each and every day we have to evaluate the fields to see if we have enough ripe strawberries to pick. When we have enough, we will include them as part of the U-Pick Wagon Rides. When we do not, We will substitute vegetables instead. Thank you for your understanding!

When riding through the farm, it may LOOK like we have a lot of red, ripe strawberries on the vines, but as you get closer, you will see that the birds have picked out the seeds, ruining the berries.

This year has been particularly difficult with the amount of strawberries being eaten by the birds. Almost 50% of our crop this year has been destroyed by the birds. That being said, we can never 100% guarantee, in advance, that strawberries will be available to pick until that morning (or late in the afternoon on the day before).

We are constantly evaluating the fields to see what is ripe and ready. We know that makes it hard for planning purposes. We wish there was a better way, but we are at the mercy of Mother Nature, and we wouldn’t want our guests to be disappointed.
