Frequently asked questions.

What are your business hours?

The Produce Market Stand & Gift Shop is open daily from 9am to 5pm.* We accept all major credit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and EBT.

*Hours differ on certain holidays, during our Pumpkin Patch and Hikari seasons.

Can we visit the farm without a reservation?

All of our activities and tours require a reservation. You can make reservations by clicking HERE. If you would like to visit the Barnyard Educational Exhibit during normal business hours, there is a $5 general admission fee. No reservations are necessary for general admission.*

*Prices vary during special events, Pumpkin Patch, and Hikari.

Are you organic?

We follow all Responsible Farming Methods meaning food safety is our top priority. We use organically approved materials in all our crops. If a crop is in danger of failing, we may use a low-grade synthetic material, but will not allow entry or harvesting from this area. We do not hold an organic certification.

We want to go on a strawberry tour and we heard you can eat strawberries from the field. Are they safe to eat?

All of the produce eaten on tours is safe to eat. We strictly regulate when we spray crops and the amount of time between spraying and harvesting.

Do you use pesticides?

Organic guidelines allow the use of approved materials. In addition, we may use stronger pesticides if a crop is in danger. See our Responsible Farming Methods page to find out more.

Is there a way to pick fruits or vegetables without doing a tour?

Visitors are not permitted to enter the fields without being a part of one of our U-Pick Farm Tours

How often do you water? What are you doing to conserve water?

We water our vegetables once every 2-3 days, depending on the weather. At the farm, we use special reclaimed water, approved for agricultural use, in our system. This, combined with our underground drip irrigation (instead of overhead watering) and use of plasticulture (keeps the weeds out and the water in!) allows us to use up to 95% LESS fresh water than conventional farms. These processes allow us to use water efficiently and responsibly, especially during drought conditions.

Do you allow Professional Photographers to shoot at the farm?

Yes, but only by appointment. Please email events@tanakafarms.com to make arrangements.

What is your cancellation policy?

REFUND POLICY: We will happily refund or exchange any produce or merchandise that does not meet our quality standards. All Tent Rental fees are non-refundable. We REQUIRE 48-hour notice on cancellations for all events, including but not limited to, Cookouts, Workshops, U-Pick Activities, and Farm Tours, to receive a full refund. You may reschedule your activity up to the date of the activity, or request a credit for future use.

NO-SHOW POLICY: If you are a no-show for your scheduled activity, without prior notice, you will not be refunded or credited, as that space has been reserved for you.

Do you allow pets?

Pets are NOT permitted at Tanaka Farms or Hana Field. We wish that were not the case, but food safety regulations, as well as our insurance policy, do not allow it. ADA Service Animals are always welcome.

Is Tanaka Farms wheelchair accessible?

Most everywhere in our Produce Market Stand, Barnyard Educational Exhibit, and Festival Grounds is accessible to those in wheelchairs. The ground is mostly flat and made of compacted gravel, so it can be a bit bumpy, but is doable. We have dedicated parking and a paved ramp from the parking lot up into our Produce Market Stand. The produce fields are not wheelchair accessible. Unfortunately, the wagons do not have lifts or ramps, nor can a person seated in a wheelchair fit onto the wagons. However, if you have a foldable wheelchair and can exit your chair to sit on the bench in the wagon, our friendly staff will be happy to assist you into the wagon so that you may ride.

Is public drinking water available?

Public drinking water is not available, as we use reclaimed recycled water in our fields. Bring your own water, or bottled water is available for purchase at the Produce Market Stand.

What is your dress code?

For your safety, we recommend wearing comfortable shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty. Please, do not wear sandals, flip-flops, open-toed shoes, or high heels.

Where do I park?

Please use our parking lot only. Do not park in any of the surrounding neighborhoods or businesses. Thank you. Parking passes may be required during special events.
